Texas Instruments Semiconductor Fabrication Plant (LFAB2)

Stemming from the CHIPS Act passed by Congress to advance semiconductor manufacturing and research in the USA, Texas Instruments (TI) announced plans to invest $11B into Utah for this endeavor, making it the largest economic investment in Utah’s history. As part of this investment, TI is constructing a new 300 mm semiconductor wafer fabrication plant (known as LFAB2) alongside its existing LFAB1 plant in Lehi, Utah. Once complete, the two fabrication plants will be streamlined to operate as one and produce tens of millions of processing chips each day.

The general contractor, a joint venture between Austin Commercial and Okland Construction, has tapped OCI to provide 2 full-time quality consultants for this project. A Civil-Structural-Architectural (CSA) consultant is helping the contractor team maintain schedule and meet quality requirements for earthwork, reinforced concrete, and interiors. A second structural steel consultant assists the team with fabricating and erecting structural steel.
